VEGA partners with The Ohio State University to create a cobot
VEGA Americas and The Ohio State University’s Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME) recently built a collaborative robot, or cobot.
The new cobot will assist in some of VEGA’s radiometric manufacturing processes at their facility in Cincinnati, Ohio.
VEGA manufactures process measurement instrumentation for industrial processes, and some of the sensors built in their facility use small, low-intensity radioactive isotopes.
VEGA is committed to the strictest safety standards when working with these radioactive isotopes, and the new cobot will only further that mission by minimizing the amount of time people spend working in close proximity to these isotopes.
“Technology companies like VEGA are constantly investing in new technologies to improve our products and help our customers,” said Co-CEO John Kronenberger, “so it only makes sense for us to invest in technology for our most important asset – our people.”
The Ohio State University recently enhanced their capability to deliver cutting edge solutions to the manufacturing sector with the opening of the Artificially Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (AIMS) lab.
By partnering with The Ohio State University on this project, VEGA has access to an industry-relevant venue developing solutions to manufacturing challenges by creatively integrating available technologies.
